Frequency regulation is one of the most common application fields of energy storage technology. The power supply unit must maintain a fixed and accurate output frequency. During the peak period of power consumption, the frequency may decrease, especially in the low capacity system. The peak load can be compensated by high-energy discharge and sub cycle response time by designing a proper size energy storage system.


Slow rate control or capacity solidification is an application field of large-scale energy storage; whose function is to integrate renewable energy into power grid. Energy storage elements (usually batteries) are used to make up for the deficiency that may occur when the instantaneous output of wind power or solar energy devices drops, so as to make the renewable energy more in line with the grid requirements. Another advantage of energy storage in wind power applications is that when the grid demand is low, excessive power can be absorbed (otherwise, the output of the turbine will be damaged or reduced).
